2.¿Com puc saber si un nom és comptable o incomptable?
És bastant complicat. Els noms incomptables són aquells que no es fan servir en plural, normalment es refereixen a coses que es mesuren per quantitats o volums (kilos, litres, metres) i no per unitats, també solen ser incomptables els noms abstractes .
Exemples :
How much sugar (incomptable) would you like ?
I need some freedom. (incomptable)
En canvi:
How many apples (comptable, es mesura per unitats) would you like?
Per complicar-ho més hi ha alguns noms que tant es poden considerar per unitats com per quantitats inespecífiques:
He always drinks some coffee after lunch. (quantitat inespecífica de café)
He drank three coffees this morning. (three cups of coffee).
